To become an approved driving instructor you will need to meet certain critera set by the Driving Standards Agency (DSA) which are as follows:
You will need to be a holder of a full Uk or European Economic Area unrestricted car driving licence.
You will need to have held a full driving licence or equivalent for at least 4 of the past 6 years prior to entering the register of driving instructors.
You must not have been disqualified from driving within the last 4 years.
You must have no more than 5 driving licence penalty points.
You must be considered a fit & proper person by the DSA. A Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) check is also required and you will need to be accepted onto the register of driving instructors.
To then become a fully qualified approved driving instructor:

You will also need to apply for your approved driving instructors registration within 1 year of passing the test of instructional ability.
